Music wideo for Warp made with Cinema 4D, PFTrack and After Effects.
Congratulations to all winners!
I took a part in Mech modelling challenge. I did not win but
at least I got an honorable mention with my contribution.
It was a fun challenge and I learned some more of
surface modeling skills.
I am quite happy with my complete solid and realistic looking mech model.
There´s also a 360-degree turntable animation which I made later on after the challenge.
I will post it later on my youtube channel.
There was interesting question on Maxon Cinema 4D area in CGtalk forums
“How to do a smoke ring effect with Cinema 4D”.
Here´s my quick tip.
It´s possible to do a smoke ring in Cinema 4D R12 with
transparent texture on torus object and
animated noise shader in displacer
modifier. Here´s some settings in R12.
I hope you find it useful.
I will propably post file later on.
Interesting stuff of Tron Legacy movie from the effect wizard himself
David Lewandowski. There were also other interesting people making cg stuff
for Tron for example Josh nimoy who directed Motion Graphics for Tron.
There is a good workflow page in Nimoy´s page.
Be sure to check out also Tron´s boardroom images on David Lewandowski website
I am so old that I started using Freehand when it was owned by Aldus.
After this became the company known as Macromedia and rest is
history with Adobe that discontinued developing this great product.
Among many artists and designers Freehand has been a great tool for
making vector graphics. Some of the workflows take less amount
of time when compared to Illustrator.
Why freehand was popular? and still is!
Applications like Freehand is popular of it´s simple workflow
because advertising industry needed a software to meet it´s tight deadlines
which was followed by an era called desktop publishing and vector graphics. This is when advertising
and printing companies did not have to outsource their work in reproduction
houses aka repro companies. Many of these companies that had invested of physical
hardware machines went to dust because soon anyone with lowcost setup and
enough computer skills could make graphics on their own. This was around late 80´s when freehand came out
in the market.
I have seen the breakthrough of film scan and computer graphics in nineties but have also seen
these oldschool people who still had their awesome handicraft in layout and
skills in making stencils. I have learned some paper cutting too when I was
a trainee in a small company that did color separation work in early 90´s. Sometimes real tools are much more dangerous than digital ones.
Perhaps the weirdest looking devices still are
Wall of social images and links… it´s facebook. Only like allowed. On/off thinking.
At least someone invented facebook middle finger.
Facebook I really hope it will end. Facebook is like a time vampire for some people. Teenagers true self esteem will be rotten when they share their photos, less effective time at work. It is an anti social virtual space where you don´t have to talk to anyone face to face but only to share your privacy. “Hey I injured by right toe, here´s a photo of my bleeding toe”. Many people are also not certain of the security. This is because facebook sells their privacy for a good price. Why not just leave and get a real life?
